In the late 1940s, a naturalist and oil speculator named John Wight bought some holdings in the oasis. Wilhelm was also a poet. However, his desire to preserve the oasis wasn't guaranteed. The oasis' fate was shaped by the efforts of multiple developers. Thankfully, multiple developers were unwittingly aiding the cause of preservation.

The neighborhood was initially developed by developer Fritz Burns in an assembly-line style before World War II.

Several bird species are common in the area. These include Gambel's quail, black-throated sparrows, and phainopeplas. During the warmer months, songbirds can be seen in abundance. You can also observe bobcats and sidewinders during the summer season.
